Welcome to My Workshop
I’m no certified genius—just a self-proclaimed “clumsy old technician” with a lifelong passion for figuring things out.
This blog is my logbook of real-world adventures, whether I’m tinkering with a CNC machine, exploring a hidden backroad on a trip, or diving into a new hobby. It’s all about the honest process of making, fixing, and exploring life. Here, you’ll find what worked, what failed, and what I learned along the way.
The Philosophy of “MOJIRANGI”
This blog is named after a beautiful old Korean word: “Mojirangi (모지랑이).” It means “an object that has become worn down from long use.”
To me, this word represents the ultimate praise. An object only becomes a “mojirangi” if it was so well-made and so useful that it was cherished and used for years, or even decades. It’s a symbol of proven quality and resilience that stands against today’s throwaway culture.
That philosophy was embodied by a tool I inherited from my father-in-law: a vintage German-made monkey wrench. It was old and worn, a true “mojirangi,” but it worked as well as any new tool. It has since become a memento of him, and I plan to pass it down to my son someday.
That’s what this blog is about: finding and celebrating the “mojirangi” in our lives—the tools, skills, and ideas that last.
The Technician Behind the Curtain
After chronicling my projects for over 15 years on my Naver Blog and for over 6 years on my YouTube channel for a Korean audience, I’ve launched this new workshop to share my journey with fellow tinkerers around the world.
My approach is simple: I value function over form, and I believe in the art of the elegant shortcut. I’m not interested in “textbook” methods when a “back-alley” trick, born from real-world experience, works better.
This is a space for practical guides, honest reviews, and the occasional philosophical musing from a technician who has learned a thing or two from this messy world of ours.
Thank you for visiting my workshop. Let’s build something that lasts.
